Activation Key For Office 2011 For Mac

Everything seemed fine until I tried to start Office 2011 and it is asking me to re-enter my product key. I am trying to locate my key (I believe I downloaded this version originally and it should be in my email but I can't find it)

Support for Office for Mac 2011 ended on October 10, 2017. All of your Office for Mac 2011 apps will continue to function. However, you could expose yourself to serious and potentially harmful security risks. Upgrade to a newer version of Office so you can stay up to date with all the latest features, patches, and security updates.

Activation Key For Office 2011 For Mac

To move / re-install your licensed copy of Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac on a different computer / OSX installation, and re-authorize it without the license / serial / key available, copy the following from the old machine to the corresponding (same) spot on the new computer.

Note NOV2020: If you just copy/paste the last file "/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.office.licensing.plist" as instructed above, it should work as well. For transparency, this was tested on an old mbp with El Capitan and incoming connections blocked with Firewall (unsure if Firewall would affect outcome).

Office for Mac 2011 comes with a 25-character alphanumeric activation key that must be entered within 15 days of running any of the suite's applications for the first time. During that grace period, the software works as if it had been activated.

Failure to enter the key and activate the suite displays a message on the screen that reads, "You must activate your copy of Office for Mac before you can use it," along with a button that initiates the online activation procedure.

According to Microsoft, the goal of the anti-piracy technology is reduce "casual copying" by tying the software to a specific Mac's hardware configuration. During the activation process, Microsoft also collects other information, including the Mac's IP (Internet protocol) address and the default language of the operating system.

The company has also scaled back the number of Macs on which a customer can legally install Office, and uses activation to keep people from violating the terms of the software's end-user licensing agreement (EULA).

Office for Mac 2011, however, switched to a single activation code and to an install-based licensing plan, effectively halving the number of Macs on which a customer can install the program. The EULA ( download PDF ) for the $150 Home and Student 2011 Family Pack states, "You may install one copy of the software on up to three licensed devices in your household."

"There are other ways to improve compliance rates that don't treat your legitimate users like felons," groused Jon Alper in a comment added to a story on activation published last week by the new OfficeforMacHelp.com site.

Both Art and Jonathan were likely referring to the price difference between the two versions of Office for Mac Home and Business 2011. Microsoft sells a one-install package of that edition for $200 and a two-install version for $280.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to use Microsoft Office 2011, nor upgrade to a more recent version of Office since all new installations require macOS Catalina or newer, which your Mac does not support.

Microsoft now requires macOS Catalina or later to install new Microsoft 365 or Office 2021 for Mac products. Your hardware cannot run Catalina. So, unless you are willing to acquire a newer Mac capable of running those operating system requirements, you are done with Microsoft Office. Although LibreOffice (currently) supports Sierra, don't count on it for long, and although LibreOffice can open all of your MS Office 2011 documents, there is a steep learning curve, even with quite good documentation.

Microsoft hosts secret installation files for Microsoft Office 2011 for Macintosh as well. After pulling almost all other direct downloads, the Office 2011 downloads are among the few remaining ones.

Microsoft has taken down all previous and current download servers (msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net, msft.digitalrivercontent.net, digitalrivercontent.net and drcdn.blob.core.windows.net)! For Office 2011, we were able to find an alternative legitimate download channel.

When starting the installation, you will be provided the choice whether to install the full version of Office 2011 using a product key, or to install a trial edition. If you select the trial edition here, you can evaluate Office 2011 up to 30 days.

Activating Office for Mac 2011 works very differently than it has in the past. It used to be you pop in a disk or grab a download link and your software was installed. With updates and new software design that has all changed.

Microsoft has released a 30 day demo of Office 2011 for Mac, the trial is free to download and includes the entire Office suite for use. Even if you are going to buy the full version, I would suggest downloading the 30 day Office trial directly from Microsoft. You can then purchase a full license through Amazon to receive a substantial discount. This lets you use Office 2011 in the interim and avoid paying full price, and this also ensures that you can run Office 2011 on your Mac without any problems.

Microsoft office for mac is a completely different version from the office for windows because it is a version which is totally based on the Microsoft Office productivity suite for mac os x. This Microsoft office for mac is one of the best and successors of 2011 and it is followed by the Microsoft office for mac of 2007.

In many ways, what you actually pay for when you legally purchase a copy of Microsoft Office is the product key (sometimes referred to as a CD key or key code, or incorrectly as the serial number. This unique number is required during the installation of Microsoft office os. So, even if you did find an OS Office download, you would still need a valid OS product key to install and use Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac. 2ff7e9595c
